❶〔ほどける〕get loose; come untied [undone] ⇒ほどける（解ける）

結び目が解けている
The knot is coming untied.

❷〔雪・氷が〕melt (away); thaw（▼meltは解けて液体になること，thawは熱によってやわらかくなることを言う）

アイスクリームが解けないうちに召し上がれ
Eat your ice cream before it melts.

あっ，角氷がみんな解けてしまった
Oh no! All the ice cubes have melted.

ツンドラが解けはじめた
The tundra has begun to thaw.

小川にはった氷が解けた
The ice in the stream has melted.／The stream has thawed.

彼の怒りは解けた
His anger melted away.

彼の誤解はなかなか解けない
So far we have not been able to dispel his misunderstanding.

彼らの不仲はまだ解けない

The capital is still under martial law.／Martial law has not yet been lifted in the capital.

ほどける【^▲解ける】

〔結んだものが〕come [get] loose, come untied；〔編んだものが〕unravel, come unraveled

靴のひもがほどけてしまった
My shoelace has come undone.
