❶〔依頼する〕ask ((a person to do; that))
彼にそれをするように頼んだ
I asked him to do it.
彼に手紙［伝言］を頼んだ
I asked him to deliver a letter [message].

I cannot turn him down.／I can't say no if he asks me.
