❶〔あざむく〕cheat ((a person out of a thing))；trick ((a person into doing))；deceive（▼通例 cheatは不正な手段，詐欺などで，trickは巧妙な策略で，deceiveはうそなどで人を惑わし，だます）
彼らはその男をだまして５万円巻き上げた
They cheated [tricked] the man out of fifty thousand yen.
女をだまして高い品物を買わせた
They tricked the woman into buying an expensive article.
彼はまんまとだまされて彼女に金をやった
He was 「easily deceived [neatly taken in] and gave her some money.／He fell neatly for her trick and gave her some money.
