[語法]

(1) had better do は特定の状況で意見を述べるのに用いて，「そうしないと困ったことになる」という含みをもつ．You を主語とした場合，相手への助言を表し，文脈や語調によっては強制や脅迫にもなる．

(2) ((略式))では had は短縮されて'd となることが多く，それも落ちて better だけになり，さらに主語まで省略されることがある

(You) better do your homework right now.
宿題をすぐやったほうがいいよ．

(3) 一人称・三人称主語・疑問文の例

I'd better leave here this evening.
今晩ここを立たなくちゃ

He'd better take his medicine regularly.
