Ａに関しては，Ａは（どうかというと）（◆すでに話題になっていることに対しある事柄を対照的に取り上げるとき用い，speaking of，as to は既出の事柄を新しく話題として取り上げるとき用いる．したがって，as for は通例談話の途中で用いる．談話の頭でいきなり用いると多く軽蔑的あるいは無関心な含意を伴う）．

[語法]

(1) as if, as though の次に通例仮定法を用いるが，主節の動詞の表す時と同時のことがらを表す場合は仮定法過去形を，それより以前のことがらやその時までの完了・経験・継続を表す場合は仮定法過去完了形を用いる．

(2) 単に様態をいう場合や，話し手がそれを事実かもしれないと考えている場合は直説法も用いる

He walks as if he is drunk.
((略式))彼は酔っ払いのように歩く．

(3) 前置詞が続く場合，if, though が略されることがある

Bill spoke quietly, as to himself.
((文))ビルは小声で話した，まるで自分自身に話しかけるように．

(4) 従属節に過去分詞や to 不定詞を含む場合，主語・be 動詞が省略されることがある
